How to Heal your Gut Naturally

Guthealth.jpg

Hello gorgeous.

Have you ever wondered what’s going on beneath your skin? Perhaps you are feeling overly tired, or you’re missing that natural glow?

Well it might be time for you to take a look at your gut health.

Hippocrates said “all disease begins within the gut.” It is no longer: You are what you eat. It is: You are what you absorb and digest. So whether you are suffering from a chronic disease, battling a whole host of allergies, or simply needing more sparkle or energy, spending time getting acquainted with your digestive system is extremely important to your health and wellbeing.

Why your gut matters

Your gut is a very delicate ecosystem, with more flora (healthy bacteria) contained within it than all of the other cells in the body combined! Now that is a lot of flora!

When this ecosystem is healthy and thriving, your digestive tract has the proper balance of stomach acids and bacteria. This perfect balance allows your body to properly break down food for nourishment and cellular repair.

Without the ability to absorb nutrients from your food and without the ability to properly eliminate waste, can cause all kinds of health issues that, on the surface, don’t seem related to your digestion but quite likely they are.

Some symptoms of gut issues can include: headaches, weight gain, menstrual cramps, fatigue, mood issues, estrogen dominance, frequent colds, allergies, autoimmune disease and many more.

As you can see it is super important to maintain a healthy gut, but it is so often miss looked as being the reason for so many of our health issues.

Therefor I would love to share a super interesting video by Food Matters, James Colquhoun, as he interviews Dr. Josh Axe for his top tips on healing and nurturing your gut naturally.

James and Dr. Axe discuss the answers to one of modern day's biggest health ailments, a dysfunctional gut. The pair explore topics relating to leaky gut, irritable bowel syndrome & Crohn's disease and discuss how we can use natural remedies and nutrition to treat and fight against the root of these issues.

Along with nutritional treatments, Dr. Axe also touches on the act of grounding, microbiome uptake and the benefits of mindful eating. It’s a must watch to discover more about this foundational aspect of our health!

This is great information and will put you on the right path to healing your gut.

I also strongly recommend adding a good quality probiotic to your daily regime to help increase the good flora in your digestive tract. Go here to read my blog post about probiotics and which ones I recommend for yourself and your family.
